Just outside the sleepy community of Thrall is the 37 acre lake name Lake Thrallveston. This soil conservation lake bounces between turbid and phytoplankton rich colored water. Most of the lake is less than 6 feet deep and has lily pads in the two large arms . When the lake is full there is a creek that is about 7-8 foot deep and runs for several hundred yards. Our test electrofishing results produced an eye popping amount of large bass. 75% of all the bass surveyed were over 2 lbs and 25% were over 4.5 lbs. An almost unheard of amount of large bass during an electrofishing survey. Fish densities were lighter than we typically see, but the fish were well above the average weights. There is an abundant amount of bluegill and golden shiners for the forage base.

The boat is in a lift on the pier. There is a switch to raise and lower the boat. Put boat back in lift and raise a couple of feet above the water line.

I think it is proper to set expectations for the lake. Water visibility is usually less than 24"; often less than 15". This is likely not the lake for a new fisherman. Fishing can be slow, but the rewards can be great. We have trial fished this lake with an experienced fisherman and he caught 15 fish in a 10 hour day. His best five fish went 6.9, 5.65, 5.25 and two more just shy of 5 lbs. I would be surprised if you would catch 20+ fish in a day of fishing.
If your looking for non stop action this is not the place. If your looking to catch solid big fish then book this place.
